Farmers.gov Local Dashboard Expanded to 40 Additional States

Back in January this year, we launched the farmers.gov dashboard pilot for Iowa. Today, we are happy to announce that the dashboard has been expanded to 40 additional states!

The farmers.gov local dashboard is now available to Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

Dashboards for other states will be available soon.

Why We Created the Dashboard

As you run your farm operation, you may need different types of data and information that are scattered across numerous online sources. USDA also provides many farmer-focused data sets and local resources that can help farmers and ranchers. Some data may be tough to find or difficult to analyze, especially for beginning farmers and ranchers that are starting a farm business or new to USDA.

We created the farmers.gov local dashboard so that you can easily access materials that are relevant to you and your farm operation in a single place. We also transformed some of the complex data sets into easy-to-read charts and graphs to help you quickly find information that matters to you.

Dashboard Features

The farmers.gov local dashboard provides state and county agriculture-related data and information from USDA and other government agencies. Here are key features of the dashboard.

State USDA News

View the latest state news from the Farm Service Agency (FSA) and Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) to stay up to date with program updates, deadlines, and more.

Commodity Pricing

View daily or weekly commodity pricing information, like feeder and slaughter cattle prices, and trends in prices over time with data from USDA Market News, provided by the Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS).

Weather Forecast

View current, upcoming, and severe weather information for your county to plan and prepare for weather conditions that may impact your operation with data from the National Weather Service (NWS).

Historical Climate Data

View historical temperature and precipitation data to analyze weather patterns over the past ten years with data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI).

Past Storm Events

View past storm events data to be aware of the types of storms that may occur in your area around certain time periods with data from the NOAA NCEI storm events database. The data could also be used as a reference when applying for crop insurance from the Risk Management Agency (RMA) or USDA disaster assistance programs.

View your local USDA service center contact information for FSA, NRCS, or Rural Development (RD) offices.

Additional State Resources

View additional resources, like your county’s drought data from the U.S. drought monitor, contact information for your state beginning farmer and rancher coordinator or state agency offices, and state GovDelivery subscription.
